GALLOWS POLE
was formed back in 1977 in vienna, austria. the bandmembers then have been ALOIS MARTIN BINDER voc,guit.,



REINHARD SCHEBIAK drums and WALTER NOVACEK bass. in 1979 the band released their first single SHUT UP/DESTINY under the

name ANGELINA. it was number one in the austrian charts. then the band decided to change the name. GALLOWS POLE was born.

in 1980 the band went to england to record their first full length album IN ROCK WE TRUST and signed a deal with cbs(sony) records.

the album was from the beginning a huge success and is a cultrecord until now. it was released all across europe. to promote the album in the united states the band went to los angeles. GALLOWS POLE signed a record deal with AZRA records in the states and the album IN ROCK WE TRUST was released there as a picture disc. the record was sold out immediatly and is a collectors item since then.

GALLOWS POLE played a lot of gigs in the states and a few of that rare live recordings can be listened to on the albums WE WANNA COME HOME re-release (KARTHAGO RECORDS) and WE WANNA COME HOME remasters (BGG-ENTERTAINMENT).

in 1985 the band went to england to record their second album WE WANNA COME HOME. in this recording sessions the drummer got sick and the recording had to be stopped. the band went back to england two years later to continue the recordings with JOHN LINGWOOD the drummer of MANFRED MANN. in 1989 the record was released and the drummer unfortunatly died. GALLOWS POLE decided to stop releasing albums for a while because there was no other drummer good enough and JOHN was on tour this time.

in 1992 because of the big demand GALLOWS POLE released a sampler also called IN ROCK WE TRUST including a few songs from WE WANNA COME HOME and the hitsingle SUMMERRAIN. then WALTER NOVACEK left the band and AMB continued alone. in this time the album THE SMILE OF THE DOLPHINS (BGG-ENTERTAINMENT) was produced which sounds quite different from the other records. it was released in 1998.

about this time AMB got in touch with stefan riermeier from karthago records. he new the band already since the early days. but it took another

6 years and because the demand for GALLOWS POLE albums never stopped KARTHAGO RECORDS and GALLOWS POLE released the album WE WANNA COME HOME again in 2006. AMB had new musicians at this time which are LUBI IVIC bass and STEFAN WINKLER drums. the old time member GÜNTHER STEINER is still in the band and plays the keys. in 2007 the album GALLOWS POLE IV was recorded and is available as download all over the world and will be released as cd also pretty soon. already in 2008 the band started the recordings for the album REVOLUTION which has been released on jan.15. 2010 by KARTHAGO RECORDS.

And maybe REVOLUTION pretty soon will also be cult as the IN ROCK WE TRUST album before.

In summer 2010 AMB started the recordings for the new record.
2011 GALLOWS POLE will release the brandnew album “WAITING FOR THE MOTHERSHIP”. It is a concept album and will be another milestone. People who already had the privilege to listen to it say it is even better then “INROCK WE TRUST”. And everybody who knows the album “IN ROCK WE TRUST” knows what THAT means.

“WAITING FOR THE MOTHERSHIP” is the best record the band ever made. RHYMETWISTA on the drums ELSKO on background vocals and ancient member STONE on the keys.

Nobody expected the record to be this good. GALLOWS POLE has changed the face of rock.
